This year, we are hosting an interactive, hybrid ACE Institute that will bridge the distance between Co-op Educators, Managers and Developers across internationally. This conference will bring together co-operators in English, French and Spanish speaking nations, to look at the steps involved in rebuilding, educating and co-operating in a post-pandemic world.

Whether attending in-person or virtually, accessibility is important to ACE. The in-person conference will be made interactive through the use of the Pheedloop platform, to ensure a seamless conference experience whether participating in-person or virtually.

What sets the ACE Institute apart:

• A friendly, familial environment where connecting and educating are the top priority;
• Co-operative walks and tours have been scheduled for in-person participants;

Getting Here and Logistics

ACE Concierge Service

ACE has partnered with a Travel Agency to assist with Trip Planning for participants of the 2021 ACE Institute. Should you require assistance with booking flights, accommodation, parking and/or car rentals. ACE is here to help. Please email info@ace.coop with a rough travel itinerary and ACE will take care of the rest ! You will receive an invoice including all receipts for reimbursement.

Vancouver

Vancouver is a 5.5-hour direct flight from most major Eastern Centres. Vancouver’s Airport, YVR, hosts major Canadian and American airlines such as Air Canada, WestJet, Delta, United and American Airlines. To find a full list of airlines that serve Vancouver’s YVR Airport, please consult this link. Generally speaking, a return-trip flight between and Eastern Centre and Vancouver will cost between $350 and $500.

Once you’re in Vancouver

If you are arriving in Vancouver on July 19th, and departing on July 22nd or 23rd, a shuttle service will operate between YVR Airport and UBC between the hours of 12PM and 9PM.

If you are arriving outside of these hours, please communicate with the ACE Administrator at info@ace.coop for assistance in arranging alternative transport. A taxi or Uber between UBC and YVR Airport takes around 25 minutes and costs approximately 45 Canadian Dollars.

Using Public Transit

Translink operates as a zoned system, with travel between zones costing extra. The price of fares is listed below. Busses and stations accept Cash, Contactless payments such as VISA and Mastercard, as well as the Compass Card Transit Pass. Visitors may purchase a Compass Card in advance (excluding international visitors), or at a transit station (everyone) for a fee of 6$.

UBC Conference Accommodation

ACE Institute Guests are welcome to stay anywhere they like. Official ACE Institute Accommodations are being provided by the University of British Columbia’s Conferences and Accommodation Service. ACE has reserved a block of rooms. The group code will be provided shortly.

The Carey Centre

The Carey Centre offers affordable suite-style accommodations on the North Side of UBC campus. Boasting incredible views of the mountains and affordable single and multi-room accommodations with large kitchens, the Carey Centre is the perfect place to stay should you desire a full-kitchen, and more local living experience. Joint Accommodations and Co-Housing

Should you wish to room with another participant at the ACE Institute, ACE is offering a roommate matching program. This is a great way to reduce costs and to get to know others at the Institute. If you would like to use this service, please contact us at info@ace.coop.

COVID-19 Protocols & Policy

At the Institute

While ACE encourages all of its Institute attendees to be vaccinated against COVID-19, ACE will not and cannot enforce a mandatory vaccination policy for all attendees. Should you require a speacial accommodation please contact us at info@ace.coop.

The 2022 ACE Institute Planning Committee has consulted with Vancouver Public Health in order to make this event as safe as possible. Rapid Testing will be made available to Institute attendees upon request. A maximum of 1 test per day may be requested. Tests will be delivered to the attendees accommodation. We ask that COVID-19 testing be conducted in your room, for sanitary reasons.

For Inter-provincial Travellers

As of April 30th 2022, inter-provincial travellers are subject to Canada’s mandatory vaccination to board policy. This means that is you are 12 years of age plus 4 months, or older, you’ll need to be fully vaccinated in order to board domestic or international flights departing from most airports in Canada, including charter and foreign airlines carrying commercial passengers, including VIA Rail, AMTRAK, White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad (WP&YR), and Rocky Mountaineer trains.

ACE encourages its attendees to contact their airline or railway company about their boarding requirements and refund policies. While ACE will help you as much as possible, we are not liable for missed flights as a result of vaccination status.

For International Travellers

If Fully Vaccinated

If you are a fully vaccinated traveller, you must provide the following documentation to enter Canada to be exempt from quarantine:

1. ArriveCAN receipt with letter A, I, or V beside the vaccinated traveller’s name
2. Proof of vaccination that was uploaded into ArriveCAN (original or paper copy)
3. Prepare for arrival testing if selected
4. Travel document entered in ArriveCAN (e.g. passport)

If Unvaccinated or Partially Vaccinated

ArriveCan Details

ArriveCAN continues to be mandatory for all travellers to Canada. It is also required to qualify for the fully vaccinated traveller exemption from quarantine and testing. If you don’t submit your travel information and proof of vaccination using ArriveCAN you could be fined $5,000.

You must use the ArriveCAN mobile app or sign in on a computer to enter your proof of vaccination and travel information.

• To be ready for your trip, create your free ArriveCAN account
• Proof of vaccination and travel documents can be saved in your ArriveCAN traveller profile before any planned travel
• To get an ArriveCAN receipt, submit your travel and vaccination information within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada
  • If you arrive by boat (including ferry), submit when you enter Canada
  • For travellers boarding a cruise ship, visit the Cruise ship travel page for requirements specific to cruise ships

No smartphone or short trip? You still need to enter your information and submit in ArriveCAN up to 72 hours before your arrival in Canada or before a short trip outside Canada. Sign in to ArriveCAN from a computer to get your ArriveCAN receipt. Print your receipt and take it with you when you travel. You can also have someone submit your travel information on your behalf.
